Salvi, Schostok and Pritchard P.C Annual Scholarship Contest 2017

The Chicago personal injury law firm of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. are proud to offer one scholarships to deserving Illinois high school students who author winning essays in our fifth annual Scholarship Essay Contest.

Students who enter our contest will write one essay on the following topic: What law or laws would you create to make the roads safer?, which we explain in more detail below.

Our goal is to support students’ educational efforts while raising awareness about this important issue.

Please carefully read through our contest rules below and don’t let the submission deadline pass without taking advantage of this exciting opportunity.

Timeline

Essay submissions open: September 25, 2017
Essay submissions close: October 9, 2017
Finalist Selection: October 16, 2017
Voting Period Starts: October 20, 2017
Voting Period Ends: November 3, 2017
Announcement of Winners: November 6, 2017

Prizes

There will be one scholarship awarded to winning essay in the amounts of:

  • Prize $1,000

Scholarship Winner

The winner of this essay contest will be awarded a check from the law firm of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. The check will be made out to your registered school. These funds must be used to pay for school tuition and / or school-related expenses.

Eligibility

To be eligible for an award in our essay contest, you must be:

  • Be a U.S. citizen and permanent resident of the State of Illinois
  • Must be a current high school student registered at an Illinois high school

Additionally, you must:

  • Verify you have read and understand the Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. Scholarship Essay Contest Rules by submitting a signed and scanned copy of our downloadable Application Form.
  • Submit a readable copy of your essay (only one essay per student is allowed).
  • Submit a digital photo (.jpg) of yourself.

Please send your application form, essay and photo by email to scholarship@salvilaw.com by the deadline of October 9, 2017. Please use “Scholarship Essay Contest” in the subject line of your e-mail.

Essay Length / Limit

The essay must be no fewer than 750 and no more than 1,500 words long. Again, only one essay per student is allowed to be entered.

Essay Content

The essay you write must focus on the topic:

What law or laws would you create to make the roads safer?

Selection Process

All application forms, essays and photos must be submitted to scholarship@salvilaw.com by the deadline of October 9, 2017.

The essays will then be judged by Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. The judging will be based on accuracy, grammar, style and originality. Judges will look for clear, original essays that are logically organized and well-supported.

The judges will select the top three essays based on the above criteria. These essays will be published on the site and a public voting period begins. The essay that gets more votes will win the scholarship contest.

We will notify all three finalists of their selection on October 16, 2017. On that same date, a page will go live on SalviLaw.com which displays the essays written by our top three prize winners for the voting period to start on October 20, 2017.  The voting period will go through November 3, 2017 and the winners will be announced November 6, 2017.
