Microsoft Educator Scholarship Opportunity 2016

Microsoft is thrilled to support computer science educators’ professional development by providing an opportunity for secondary school educators to enroll in a training program to teach CS50 AP. This professional development opportunity will enroll educators in CSCI E-50a and CSCI E-50b, a two-semester version of CS50, which is offered online through Harvard Extension School. Microsoft will make this online course, valued at approximately $3,600.00 USD, available to 20 qualified educators free of charge.

CS50 AP is an adaptation of CS50, Harvard University’s introductory computer science course taught by Professor David J. Malan, which is specifically tailored for high school educators and students.

Eligibility:

• Speak English fluently and teach students who also speak English
• Commit to complete both semesters of the course
• Demonstrate willingness to be an active member in the CS50 AP communities
• Have at least one year of experience teaching computer science and programming to secondary school students
• Provide verified support from school administrators, including a commitment to provide the following for the 2016-2017 school year
• One year (36 weeks with approximately 180 in-class minutes per week) of allocated class time with students
• A minimum commitment of one section with 10 or more students enrolled for the year
